Being a woman in a man's world
Who run the world? Girls! On March 8th we celebrate International Women's Day! This day is dedicated to all women all over the world. Each year, a theme is chosen: this year, it's all about "freedom".
We owe International Women's Day to all the women who have struggled to assert their rights. Thanks to them, we live today in a world where in most countries there is a much healthier balance between women and men.
“Happy International Women’s Day, to all the beautifully strong women across the world.”
The origins of this day go back to the 19th century. Women stood up for their rights, including in the field of labour and women's suffrage. On March 8, 1908, the first strike by women took place in New York. The strike was the very beginning of the struggle of feminism. In 1911 the first International Women's Day was celebrated, but it was not until 1922 that March 8 was chosen as the fixed date. Nowadays, Women's Day is often organized around a special theme such as "against violence" or "equal treatment".
We freely asked some of our Cali women the question:
"What's it like to work as a woman in the IT sector, which is rather known as a man's world?"
Personally I think it's cool to work in a man's world. The men are always straightforward and that way you always know where you stand. Working with the girls is also fun at Calibrate!
It's nice to be in the middle of a lot of testosterone every day. The jokes at Calibrate are very witty, but for the women they are always extra attentive.
Do you doubt if you would go for sales? Or do you wonder, "Is sales in the IT sector for me?" I advise you to shout exuberantly YES!
Our men at work all have some cockiness, but they all have a gingerbread heart! Man or woman, at Calibrate we're one team!
