I think every person's hands get clammy at the word application. Especially since that's when you have to step out of your comfort zone. As a person I become insecure in new situations because it is unknown territory. So you can already guess how tense I got at my job interview. Maarten and Joris took good care of me and put me at ease pretty quickly. They already clearly knew what they were looking for in an office manager: a lady with spirit. But in front of them was rather a shy person, who still had to blossom.

The conversation came to an end and I was already allowed to meet some future colleagues. I was immediately introduced as the 'new' office manager. Then everything went pretty fast. After five days I was allowed to get to work.

The funniest question I got was "can you deal with real geeks?"

In the beginning it was a bit of a search, but I could get away with everything pretty quickly.
How I went about it: if I get a to do, I finish it as soon as possible!

“Make service your first priority”

As an office manager you have a lot of responsibility, because everyone is counting on you. But the most fun part of managing is putting a smile on the faces of my colleagues. That's why I put my love in a very simple card, with a nice quote that I write on it myself. I try to do this every week, so that my colleagues can start their week with positivity. One of the most exciting to do's was planning an event. There was a lot more involved in arranging and ordering than I thought.

After the first month of trial runs, I was asked if I wanted to post something on our social media once in a while. I liked it immediately, even though I had no experience at all. Of course, as a 24-year-old you know something about social media, because you grew up partly in it. But it turns out it was more than just posting "a photo". There's actually a lot involved, so many details you have to pay attention to. Sometimes there was a moment when my alarm rang, moments when I panicked for a moment. But in the end I could always rely on the team that had supported me from day one. Meanwhile, I manage the social media channels of 3 companies.

I'm still learning every day, thanks to Calibrate.

If I can give you a piece of advice, I've got the biggest tip!

"Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do."

I hope you now have an idea of how things went during my probationary period. Do you have a passion for web technology and you think you're a real calibrator?
Then I present you Calibrate with a smile.
