Every quarter we plan a team building with all our colleagues. Unfortunately, this has not been possible in person for the past year and a half, due to Covid-19. After many virtual meetings, there was finally light at the end of the tunnel. It was allowed again! We didn't let them tell us twice. Our first real team activity, surrounded by real colleagues, was a fact.
Finally a happy reunion with all colleagues, "in real life", and moreover safely organized! Something so simple, but so nice. You could really feel the atmosphere and the people during the many conversations: every facial expression, a sigh, a revealing body posture, a hesitation or a glimmer of self-confidence... Surely a richer experience than a Teams call!
Black box
Since January 2021 we have our own real event hall. The hangar, which is located at the back of our office building, has been transformed into a real "black box"!
A state-of-the-art sound system, all necessary presentation options, mood lighting, blackout and acoustic curtains, with a scalable capacity up to hundreds of people (once the corona measures are phased out completely).
Thanks to Inge, Daina and Marjorie for getting us up and running and for continuing to support events and activities in our Shed!
It was so nice to see our colleagues in real life again after so long! Instead of just talking about all the business topics, you could have the relaxing chats you used to have at the coffee machine throughout the day, or over lunch together.
A happy reunion
Safety first! Before our colleagues were allowed to enter the Pilot, they all had to test negative for Covid-19. Negative test? Then the "Gates of the Black box" could open!
Betty from "It's James" provided delicious snacks and drinks. After a brief tête-à-tête, the managing partners, coordinators and tech leads kicked off their presentations. They delivered a "State of the Union", with updates from all the sub-companies. After the end of the presentation, our colleagues could enjoy each other's company and at the same time it was "time to shine" in front of Stefaan's camera lens 📸.
Finally chatting with colleagues in real life. I finally met new colleagues IRL, it struck me how natural it felt. Even though we only saw each other via screen, it immediately felt like we had known each other for years.
On to the next one!
We all look forward to our next meeting. Because what a damn good thing it did to see each other again!
